THE NIGHTMARE IN YOUR CLOSET.
The Thrift Store Tragedy
You find an amazing vintage piece. The fabric is perfect. But it hangs off your body weirdly. So it sits in the back of your closet collecting dust.
The "Baggy Costume" Epidemic
You spend money on a packaged costume or online order, and it arrives looking like a shapeless potato sack. You try to safety-pin it, but you just look lumpy.
The Graveyard of Good Intentions
You bought it saying, "I just need to hem it." That was eight months ago. Now it sits in the dark corner of your closet. Every time you get dressed, you can feel them staring at you, silently judging you for abandoning them.
The YouTube Rabbit Hole
You watch 5 hours of confusing tutorials, finally take scissors to your clothes, ruin the garment completely, and swear off sewing forever.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
BEGINNER/NOVICE
You are not a complete stranger to a sewing machine. You’ve successfully tackled simple projects like tote bags or pillowcases, and you are ready to graduate from sewing straight lines to actually fitting and altering garments on a 3D body.
The Halloween Hacker:
You bought a bagged costume or ordered pieces online, and you want to use professional tools to upgrade it from "cheap and saggy" to a custom-fitted look before your party.
The Upcycler & Wardrobe Rescuer:
You are tired of clothes sitting unworn in your closet. You want to learn the fundamental deconstruction and alteration skills to upcycle thrifted gems, rescue ripped garments, or finally take in the waist on those pants you've held onto for months.
Who it's NOT for:
You have never threaded a sewing machine
To ensure everyone gets the most out of our 4 hours, you need basic machine familiarity (meaning you know how to guide fabric without pulling it while gassing the pedal!). If you are an absolute beginner, hold tight for the Sproutling cohort coming to Fabric Forge in January.
You want to draft a pattern from scratch.
This is strictly a garment alteration, hacking, and deconstruction clinic using existing clothing.
You are an advanced sewist looking for complex, high-level couture finishing techniques.
That's our White Orchid Incubator for aspiring designers, not here!
Halloween COSTUME CLINIC
Halloween is just the excuse. This is a foundational tailoring bootcamp disguised as a costume party.
